DJ Marcus is a trial attorney with years of experience in the courtroom building his portfolio of trial victories in complex commercial litigation and real estate disputes. Able to guide clients through mediation to obtain favorable settlements, DJ is ready to take cases all the way to verdict.
He is Colorado’s expert on The Hague Convention on Service Abroad and the Colorado Foreign-Country Money Judgments Recognition Act, litigating and successfully domesticating judgments from Hong Kong, South Korea, and other foreign countries. DJ is also one of few attorneys in Colorado who has successfully tried civil Colorado Organized Crime Control Act (COCCA) claims. He was an integral part of the trial team that achieved one of the top Colorado jury verdicts in 2019.
DJ recognizes that obtaining a judgment is only half the battle, so he has developed a talent for collecting on the judgments he wins for his clients. He has successfully asserted fraudulent transfer claims against judgment debtors hoping to hide assets and has an extensive toolbox to make his clients whole after prevailing at trial.
DJ received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Anthropology from The Colorado College and his Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. At DU, he was Vice President of the Student Bar Association and a member of the Student Trial Lawyers Association. DJ sits on the Colorado Lawyers Committee’s Young Lawyer’s Division Strategic Planning Committee and volunteers at Colorado Lawyers Committee Legal Nights. He also coached the mock trial team at Evergreen High School, leading the team to the state tournament two out of three years. He lives in Evergreen with his wife and two sons.
